This Beautiful Lime Green Vehicle is running. We had a mechanic review the vehicle and he found:
The green AMX was inspected for general mechanical, electrical, and safety condition. The vehicle currently has several significant electrical and safety-related concerns that should be addressed before the vehicle can be considered fully operational.
The instrument cluster and dashboard gauges are currently inoperative. The dash wiring appears to require electrical repair and reconnection, including restoration of the wiring supplying the gauges and other dashboard functions. Additional troubleshooting will be necessary to determine whether the gauges themselves are functional or whether the issue is primarily related to the wiring and power/ground circuits.
The seats are currently unhooked, and the seat wiring/attachments will need to be properly reconnected and verified before the vehicle is operated. The braking system will also require attention, with the brakes needing to be inspected and serviced before the vehicle is considered safe for road operation.
The front passenger-side headlight is damaged and inoperative. During testing, the headlight circuit exhibited a smoking condition, indicating a potential short circuit, damaged wiring, or another electrical fault. This should be considered a significant safety and electrical concern. The damaged headlight assembly will require replacement, and the wiring should be thoroughly inspected before power is reapplied to prevent further damage.
The rear tires are beginning to show dry-rotting and cracking. The tires should be closely inspected for age, tread condition, sidewall cracking, and structural deterioration. Replacement may be appropriate before the vehicle is driven.
The wiring around the starter relay/solenoid and alternator circuit appears to have been modified or deteriorated and will require cleanup, inspection, and likely rewiring. The alternator appeared not to be charging during inspection. At this time, it cannot be determined whether the alternator itself is defective or whether the charging problem is caused by damaged, improperly connected, or corroded wiring. The complete charging circuit should be tested once the wiring is properly restored.
The turn signals are currently inoperative, although other exterior lighting functions were operational. The turn-signal circuit will require electrical diagnosis to determine whether the problem is related to the switch, flasher, wiring, grounds, or another component.
The driver-side door panel is in need of repair/restoration, with the condition appearing primarily cosmetic/trim related at this time.
There is also a rear differential/axle-area fluid leak that will require further inspection to identify the exact source. The differential should be checked for proper fluid level, and the housing, cover, axle seals, and pinion area should be inspected to determine the required repair.
Green AMX – Overall Assessment
The vehicle appears to be a project requiring substantial electrical restoration and safety-related repairs before it should be considered road-ready. Particular attention should be given to the smoking headlight circuit, braking system, charging system, turn signals, tire condition, and rear differential leak. A complete electrical inspection and wiring cleanup is recommended before continued operation.
