This vehicle was reviewed by a mechanic. He found:
The gray Javelin was inspected with particular attention to the starting, fuel, charging, and lighting systems.
The headlights are not operating properly. The normal headlight function is inoperative, while the high-beam function does operate. This indicates that the vehicle has at least some functionality within the lighting circuit, but further electrical testing will be required to identify the failure in the normal headlight circuit.
The oil pressure warning light and ALT/alternator warning light remain illuminated. The ALT light indicates a potential charging-system problem, while the oil warning light requires verification of actual oil pressure before the vehicle is operated extensively. The warning lights could potentially be related to wiring or charging issues, but they should not be disregarded without further testing.
The drive belts are in need of replacement. The existing belts should be replaced and the pulleys and accessories inspected for proper alignment and bearing condition before extended operation.
The rear-view mirror is broken off and will require replacement or repair.
The vehicle initially was not receiving fuel and would not remain running. Fuel-system troubleshooting was performed and the vehicle was successfully started. During testing, however, the mechanical fuel pump located at the front/driver-side area of the engine appeared to be leaking. The apparent leak may allow the fuel system to lose prime, contributing to the original no-fuel/start issue. The fuel pump and surrounding fuel lines/connections should be repaired or replaced, and the system should then be retested for proper fuel pressure and sustained fuel delivery.
The defroster function is inoperative and will require additional diagnosis. The cause could involve the heater/air-distribution controls, vacuum system, cables, doors, or related components depending on the configuration of the vehicle.
Gray Javelin – Overall Assessment
The engine was able to be started during the inspection after addressing the initial fuel-delivery issue; however, the vehicle still requires fuel-system repair, charging-system verification, lighting repairs, belt replacement, and additional HVAC/defroster diagnosis. The oil-pressure warning should be verified with a mechanical pressure gauge before the vehicle is operated extensively.
